Getting ready for 2009!

Posted on Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Preparing for the 2009 Northumbria Byways brochure we have been travelling the roads of Northumberland a lot over the past few weeks. The other day was a exceptionally beautiful day the weather was glorious, clear blue skies, perfect for photos. We took the opportunity to take some photos of Bamburgh Castle and upon returning to the office to download the pictures we were very happy with the outcome. Bamburgh Castle dominates the skyline, perched high on a rocky outcrop, it is amazing to think it has stood the test of time for thousands of years. In the 18th Century the castle was extensively restored by Lord Crewe and then more recently further restoration was carried out by Lord Armstrong in the 19th Century.

At this time Lord Armstrong also built cottages for his workers to live in. The these situated at the south end of the village of Bamburgh. Some of which now have a new role as self catering accommodation, one of these being Nantucket.

If you would like to visit Bamburgh, why not have a look at The Shieling, excellent for large groups of up to 12 people or Blacketts Apartment, sleeping up to 4 people.
