Book A Seat On LOST’s Doomed Oceanic Flight 815
Posted on Friday, January 29th, 2010
Anticipating next week’s kickoff of Lost Season 6, the programmers at travel metasearch engine Kayak have buried a Lost-related easter egg deep in their site. If you’ve ever yearned to crack open the secrets to the Dharma Initiative—or not, as the case may be—you now have a chance to book a seat on Oceanic Flight 815, the route that began the entire mind-bending adventure. Via Mashable, all you have to do is punch in the right settings, hit Kayak’s “Search” button, and an option for the self-evidently bad idea appears.
You can’t really book the reservation, of course. Trying to lock it in will take you to a Lost Wikipedia entry on the doomed trans-Pacific flight. But it’s still a nice little timewaster, especially if you’re an obsessed fan. To unlock the easter egg, plug in a request for a SYD-LAX flight like you normally would. It has to be a one-way flight and the day has to be set for September 22, 2010, the series having aired for the first time on September 22, 2004. The price of the ticket is $4839 so you might want to sort by reverse price order after you get the results. If you’ve done everything right and you look down a couple rows, there it will be.

Dade City: Feel Free To Eat Them, Skin And All At The Kumquat Festival
Posted on Friday, January 29th, 2010
We’ve seen food festivals dedicated to some of the more popular tasty treats, but there are some lesser-known foods that want a chance in the spotlight. That’s why we’re recommending the annual Kumquat Festival in Dade City, Florida for your weekend itinerary. We know what the fruit looks like—kind of like an orange—but don’t think we’ve ever had one. Apparently they are tasty enough for their own party, so we’re intrigued.
Kumquat festivities have been going on all week, but the main event is Saturday, January 30 from 9am to 5pm. There will be a farmer’s market to bring home some citrus souvenirs, antiques, live music, and even a car show. Of course there will be plenty of specialty dishes including the featured ingredient. Aspiring kumquat chefs battled it out earlier in the week in a recipe contest, so be on the look out for samples of the blue ribbon winning recipe.
Southwest Wants Their 544 Planes Plugged Into In-Flight WiFi ASAP
Posted on Friday, January 29th, 2010
For everyone who relies on the cheap fares and consistent service of Southwest Airlines, we’ve got some great news for you today. According to SWA’s official blog “Nuts About Southwest,” they have concluded their year-long testing phase, which only had four aircraft (of their 544) flying around with WiFi.
They’ve just signed the contract with in-flight internet provider Row 44 to begin equipping their entire fleet with the gizmos necessary to get us passengers connected at 35,000 feet. Installations will begin in the second quarter of this year, beginning at the pace of 15 aircraft per month and hopefully quickly ramping up the pace to 25 per month.
After the jump…yea, but how much will it cost to use?

Have you ever wanted to explore the Las Vegas of the East, Macau? Sit back and count your chips then as we follow Twitter celeb Stefanie Michaels, aka Adventure Girl, as she explores this southern Chinese leisure town. Each day this week, she’ll reveal another adventure. Join her 1.5 million followers on Twitter for more Macau conversation @AdventureGirl, and don’t forget us @Jaunted!
Macau’s nightlife is ever expanding and changing. What started off as post-gambling hot spots in most of the hotels, nightlife has now spread out of the resorts and into local areas like the Outer Harbour.
But before we head away from the casinos, there’s actually a pretty cool bar/lounge inside the MGM. The Lion’s Bar, tucked at the back side of the main casino, is where music lovers can go to listen to a featured band. When I was in Macau, the eclectic cover band called Lockdown rocked a packed house. If they’re in town when you are—make sure to see them.
After the jump, some karaoke and Cirque du Soleil
Rome: Forget Paris, Do Six Nights Over Valentine’s Day in Rome for $649
Posted on Friday, January 29th, 2010
Guess what is only two weeks away? Yep, Valentine’s Day is back again, and with it comes the scramble for half-hearted gifts for your sweetheart, even though the thought is whole-hearted.
The newspapers are full of jewelry store ads and specials on weekend trips to Paris, but we’re feeling something a bit warmer, someplace with more dolce vita than savoir faire, if you know what we mean. So then, it’s off to Rome!
For the next few months, even including all dates around Valentine’s Day, Travelzoo has found a huge deal on a hotel+flights+breakfast deal to Rome for $649. It’s listed as $749 on the go-today travel site that is selling the deal, but enter promo code TZ012710 at checkout to knock off that pesky $100 difference. The hotel may be only 3.5 stars, but hey—at least you’re in Rome with a bed and you’ve spent less than if you were to head straight into a jewelry store and just point at something nice.

Park City: Banksy (Secretly) Premieres His First Film At Sundance Film Fest
Posted on Friday, January 29th, 2010
The notorious British street artist Banksy premiered his first film, Exit Through The Gift Shop, at Sundance this week. But, true to form, he didn’t allow it to be listed in the fest’s catalog nor did he tell anyone about its place on the schedule until last week. This is no surprise coming from an artist who keeps his identity and whereabouts under tighter wraps than most people in the witness protection program.
The film is about street art, but it is also about Terry Guetta a.k.a Mr. Brain Wash, a successful commercial street artist. In the ’90s Terry was obsessed with capturing his life on video. At the same time, he was hanging out with his cousin, the street artist Space Invader, who worked nights in France and Los Angeles covering the town with pixel aliens. Terry quickly became obsessed with street artists and, suddenly, his two passions combined. This meant for the first time someone was capturing the best graffiti artists in the world (including Banksy) working. The problem was, Terry’s film sucked, even though he tried really hard, he just couldn’t pull it off. This is where Banksy stepped in and decided to turn Terry’s footage into Exit Through the Gift Shop.
