Passport and Visa Fee Hikes Hit July 13
Posted on Wednesday, June 30th, 2010
Time to send your passport to get those extra pages added in ASAP. Passport fees are going up, and they’re doing it soon, on July 13 to be exact.
These changes come as the US Government looks for ways to deepen its coffers as passport fees subsidize the State Department’s work overseas, including emergency relief for American abroad. Sure, it’s for a good cause, but these higher passport prices mean for a family of four to get passports, it’d cost $640, and that’s a little more than many have stashed in the cookie jar for a rainy day.
The full rundown of passport price hikes:
The VinniBag: A Case for Overprotective Wine Lovers
Posted on Wednesday, June 30th, 2010
Everyone is familiar with those giant Greek vases that were used for centuries to move olive oil and wine around to the ports of the Mediterranean Sea. We used to think that was a pretty good packaging solution—or at least as good as our preferred method of putting the bottle in the trunk for the duration of the car ride, but apparently we were wrong. It turns out that “traveling with wine, olive oil or just regular toiletries can be awkward at best, disastrous at worst.” The reason we know that is because the makers of the VinniBag told us so.
The VinniBag is an empty bag, inside of which you place a bottle of liquids. Once the bottle has been so placed, the bag is sealed and inflated, thus creating a cushion of air around said bottle. The practical upshot of which is that the bottle is protected from the environment and the environment is protected from the bottle contents. Modern wine transportation technology for the modern age.

Miami: Miami Beach Rolls Out ‘DecoBike,’ a Super Sexy Bike Sharing Program
Posted on Wednesday, June 30th, 2010
You may know the Velib bikes of Paris or the SmartBike system of Washington DC, but you’ve never seen bike sharing like this. Miami is getting in the green groove by installing new DecoBike stations all around the Art Deco district and Miami Beach, and they are doing it in the sexiest way possible.
Like with other bike sharing systems, you must first join online and then you are free to opt for either a monthly pass for unlimited use or pay-per-hour. And just to get people interested—and away from slowly cruising in convertibles down Collins Avenue—DecoBike is promoting itself using images of hot girls and guys riding their bikes, plus a promotional video that touts the weight loss and health benefits of bike riding. Way to play up to the body-focused culture of South Beach!
